"The welcome from the staff was wonderful. While we arrived early in the daytime, they checked our bags so we could walk around Paris at our leisure. It was during our walk that we discovered what a great location this was. Lovely restaurants, cafes and shops. An easy walk to Blvd St. Michele, which delivers you to the Seine. Maps and thorough directions were always provided with a supportive comment. We enjoyed our stay there so much that we made a new reservation for our return trip home in two weeks."

The Latin Quarter

One of Paris's best-known districts, the Latin Quarter covers the 5th arrondissement and part of the 6th, around its historic and legendary heart, the Sorbonne, founded in 1253. Traditionally, this district was called the University, then nicknamed the "Latin country" in the 17th century (as a joke about this district of studies, all in Latin at the time), to become the "Latin Quarter" in the 18th century.

It's still a student district, and many higher education and research establishments have since made it their home. But its charm, beauty and abundance of historic sites to visit have quickly transformed it into a renowned entertainment and tourist destination.

Today's bustling tourist scene rivals the vestiges scattered around the district and its picturesque pedestrian lanes. The Latin Quarter is teeming with places to visit, stroll, eat and shop... Charm, history and pleasure.

Discover monuments, restaurants, shops, libraries, bookshops, themed cabarets, theaters, splendid gardens, delightful squares, medieval houses and more. The choice is multiple, rich and condensed; and the atmosphere is truly joyful and convivial.

The past, with its Roman and medieval vestiges, plunges you into historic Paris; and you emerge into the lively, multicolored Parisian present.
